About

INTERTWINED: INTERSECTIONAL CONVERSATIONS is an ongoing collaborative project originally intended to highlight the intricate manner in which COVID-19 has affected the South African and Mozambican regions. However, as the project developed, topics expanded to perspectives on race, social equity and government efficacy.  The nuanced disparities and historical context of today’s societal status quo in the region were underscored while also revealing regional and global hopes for the future. Participants of INTERTWINED reveal how communities around the world are much more interconnected than not.

However, INTERTWINED is far from complete. Our trailer is  a teaser of what is to come with our full documentary. Support our work by becoming a patron and help us amplify the voices of the underrepresented through the production of the full-length INTERTWINED documentary. Plus receive exclusives and gratitudes with various patron tiers.

who we are

Join the conversation on intersectionality below!

Intersectionality: term originally coined by Kimberlé Crenshaw in 1989 to identify the various aspects (e.g. gender, race, sexual orientation, country of origin, etc.) of one’s identity and the manner in which these intersect, or overlap – along with the accompanying power, privileges and experienced-discrimination. Crenshaw’s work allowed for a wider understanding of how different individuals encounter the world and the advantages/disadvantages that come with these multifaceted identities.
